How free is the pet to roam while living in your home? If you have a smaller house or condo, you will likely need to get a smaller dog. Also, larger pets require more room to run and roam, which is an issue in a smaller location.

Are there any rules in your area? In an apartment or condo there might be standards regarding breeds or sizes you may have. This can limit your choices.
