What To Look Out For If Boarding Your Pet (Part 2)
|
Is it a secure area that would prevent your pet from wandering away and possibly looking for you?
What are the kennel’s guidelines regarding parasites and immunizations?
Is there adequate ventilation, sufficient light, good temperature control, and a healthy environment?
Does the conduct of the staff satisfy you?
What is are the provisions for proper food and clean drinking water?
How do they handle emergencies?
Are exercise and rest areas safe and secure from other pets?
Proper supervision from adequately trained personnel is very important. They should be educated enough to look for any signs of unusual behavior, discomfort, and act on it immediately.
Feel free to inquire about their guidelines in an emergency. A boarding kennel with standards will be ready to answer any questions that you have. They should be able to show their agreement that explains what your rights and their duties are. This will help clarify any misunderstandings that could occur.
It is important to remember that some kennels may limit contact where the animals are housed in. This may be to reduce undue stress for some of the animals who may react apprehensively to strangers. Nevertheless, there should be a window or viewing port for visitors to observe the conditions available for their pets. Also keep in mind points like all the dogs having adequate space to run in. Or that cats have adequate room to relax and feel separate from other cats.
