What You Need To Do If Your Dog Or Cat Has Eaten Poison Pet Food (Part 1)

There are many worries about poisoned pet food – so dog or cat owners are reasonably worried about their family pet, and whether they could be affected. So we might ask, what can be done for our pets?

Key is to note that your family pet could have visible signs of illness before they become dangerous. Be on the watch for differences in defecation, appetite, drinking, overall health, their mood, urination, or any other common aspect of them and their health.

In the case of the contaminated pet food, kidney failure is a result of the poisoning, and this can cause extreme thirst in pets, and infrequent urination. Other problems include lethargy, diarrhea, change in appetite, and more.

By noticing these changes, you may find the problem before it gets too serious.

It is important that you seek immediate attention when you see any problems. In the case of poisoned pet food, the main health issue is kidney failure. Kidney failure is permanent, and this means the earlier you treat it the better. With a major health problem like this, early detection is important – but of course that’s the case for any cat health problem.

You can also be proactive. If your cat or dog has no visible symptoms, you may still wish to have him or her checked. This is especially important if they’ve eaten the recalled food products. Of course, if you have reason to suspect problems, or whether there are symptoms or not, it is good prevention to schedule a trip to your vet soon.
