General suggestions to choosing include:
Is the pet able to roam while living in your home? With a small house or condo, you may need to get a smaller pet. Also, large breeds need room for running, which makes them a problem to keep in a tinier location.
Do you need the dog to be aggressive? Some breeds are naturally loud and noisy, and some are quiet. A dog barking all the time can cause problems, a bark when needed for an intruder is very welcome!
What do you plan to do with your pet? For example, if you’re a hunting fan, then you will want to pick an animal that shares your interest. Dogs that are bred especially for hunting include retrievers, hounds, pointers, and trackers. So if go outdoors a lot, you stay at home, this will influence the type of pet you’ll bring into your home.
How much pet upkeep do you want? Some pets require more care and maintenance than others. For example, poodles will require extra care for their appearance. Some breeds have health issues such as Dalmatians with hip problems, that may make care an issue over time.
