Has Dog or Cat Eaten Poison Petfood? What You Need To Do (Part 1)

There are many concerns about impure pet food – so dog or cat owners are certainly worried about their loved pet, and whether they could be affected. We might ask, what can be done about our pet?

You must always watch that your dog or cat likely will show signs of illness well before they become serious. Watch for changes in appetite, urination, overall health, drinking, their mood, defecation, or any other normal area of them and their health.

In the case of the contaminated pet food, kidney failure is a result of the poisoning, and this can cause extreme thirst in pets, and infrequent urination. Other problems include lethargy, diarrhea, change in appetite, and more.

By noticing these changes, you may find the problem before it gets too serious.

It is very vital that you get immediate help if you see anything unusual. In the case with poisoned cat or dog food, the leading health issue is kidney failure. Kidney failure is permanent, and this means the earlier you can treat it the better. For a major health problem like this, early detection is vital – and that’s the same for any cat health issue.

Examining your pet yourself is a first step. For example, brush your pet’s fur, looking for changes like hair loss, are their eyes or nose runny, see if they they walk properly, without limping, look for unusual or bad smells, and check other change of their appearance. While not everything will be completely fine with your dog or cat, so pay careful attention to any changes, as these may be a warning of a growing problem.
