Child Proof Your Dog Or Cat (Part 1)
Most kinds of dogs and puppies have a great temperament around little ones, and can manage some rough-housing without getting aggressive. Unfortunately, this is rarely the case with cats. Particularly with younger ones, playing with or picking up a cat or kitten often leads to scratches and bites. When you are anticipating visits from young ones, you should try to keep them away from each other whenever you can. And if you have yet to make a choice for a dog or cat for the home, you may need to really consider if a cat is a good choice.
If your dog or cat is sick, it’s important to keep her or him away from little ones. Like people are miserable and more likely to act up when feeling ill, your cat or dog needs time away from small children. Pets need time to get better, and putting it in the middle of a group of people will not help. And this makes sense in any situation when an animal is sick.
Including young ones in the pet’s daily life, such as in cleaning, grooming, feeding, and such will aid the small tykes to have a closer relationship. The result is that as the young children get to know the animal, they’re much less likely to hurt it. But, care should be taken with very small children to assist them, so that the dog or cat gets proper attention.
