Small tykes, whether in the family or dropping by, need to be trained how best to play with their pet. It’s important that they be warned it is not a plaything, and that it needs care like any living thing. Tugging, pulling, slapping, hitting, or other obnoxious actions will not be tolerated, and you should have in place some form of punishment to tell the child how serious this is.

These activities can be useful, as they teach the little ones the responsibility of taking care of a cat or dog.
