Legal Actions Result From The Tainted Petfood Crisis (Part 1)

A great many of people are upset, shocked, and angry by the tainted petfood scare. Now, they are fighting back with legal claims and class action lawsuits.

Cats and dogs in both the United States and Canada have suffered from serious issues, including death, loss of appetite, seizures, kidney failure, and many other symptoms as a result of eating contaminated petfood. As a result, there has been a recall of millions of products.

Despite some uncertainty as to the cause of the problem, the poisons in the pet foods have been identified, and the manufacturer has voluntarily recalled their products.

Lawyers are now preparing class action suits for this company and others. In one class action, 2 Manitoba plaintiffs are suing for the death of their pets, a cat and several puppies, after being fed the recalled products.

Although Menu seems to be bearing the majority of the legalities, other companies are affected. Royal Canin, Canada, based in Ontario, is being sued for approximately fifty million dollars over contaminated food. In this case however, the problem is too much Vitamin D, which is dangerous to cats and dogs in large enough does. And so while the symptoms seem to be similar to the other products, the actual reason is very different.
