Legal Actions Result From The Tainted Petfood Crisis (Part 2)

Searching the Internet provdes many lawyers wanting your support, with class action lawsuits throughout North America. These class actions require your participation, but don’t require payment, as all legal fees are paid out of any legal settlement.

A difficulty for any class action is deciding on the damages, if any. Legally, animals are viewed as property, so damages are based on the physical value of the animal. But cats and dogs are much more than mere property, and the law may be unable to put a realistic value on the loss of a close pet friend. Under the current legal system, ‘pain and suffering’ doesn’t apply to pet loss.

If your pet is affected by these problems, you may wish to become part of a class action suit. A search of the Internet will provide you many options. But no matter which legal team you use, you must keep track of all related items: food containers and food, store invoices, veterinarian bills and related care bills, plus anything likely to be required to prove a lawsuit. By gathering your paperwork, you improve your chances of being included with and winning a claim.

Time will tell if these claims provide any real compensation for the victims. However, by putting a price on pet health care, there is the possibility that greater care will be shown for petfood and petfood manufacturing in the future.
