Selecting Your Best Pet Friend (Part 2)

How loud and aggressive do you want your dog to be? Some breeds are naturally loud and noisy, and others are very passive. A dog barking constantly is annoying, a bark when needed for an intruder is very welcome!

Who is the pet for? When selecting a pet for your family, for young people, you’ll need to take care to get a dog that has a good temperament around people, particularly children. Certain pet breeds do not play well in a family setting, while some dogs are more aggressive than a family setting allows.

Retrievers are very likable dogs, and are considered protective, loyal, and caring, important for a pet. However, being larger dogs, they benefit from being outside, and so are good for families that are outdoors frequently.

Likewise, collies are good with children as well. They are known as patient, intelligent dogs, and longsuffering, ideal around smaller kids.

What are you getting a dog for? For example, if you’re a hunting fan, you’ll want a dog that shares your interest. Dogs that are bred for hunting include pointers, retrievers, hounds, and trackers. So if go outdoors a lot, you stay at home, this will help decide the kind of pet you may wish to bring home.

But no matter how you pick your new dog, you can expect the care you give them will be given back many times more by them, and expect a long and happy relationship!
