How To Painlessly Groom Your Cat (Part 1)
Begin combing your pet while it is still a kitten so that it’ll become used to the grooming. Use a cheerful tone and reward your cat with a treat to keep the grooming enjoyable.
Use a soft comb and brush in the direction that the hair grows so as not to irritate your cat’s skin. It’s suggested that longhaired cats be combed nearly every day while short-haired cats can get by with two or so brushings each week.
Remember to take care at the ears because cats have sensitive ears. Working carefully will help keep the brush from clogging up too quickly and slowing you down.
Begin clipping your cat’s nails while it is young. Do not use ordinary clippers. Invest in a specialized pair of nail clippers for cats that are designed for trimming the curve of the nails. Keep the sessions short and quick. Do only a single paw at a time, and gently press on the inside of the paw to help show the nails.
Then smoothly cut just the tip. This is crucial because cats have a vein in their nail. It may be visible if the nail is not opaque.
