What’s In Your Pet Food? (Part 2)

Some reports mention animals that are viewed as unfit for our food may find their way into pet food. For instance, reports that creatures that are ill, dying, euthanized from clinics, and also roadkill can be included in the pet food.

The petfood industry has a name describing this ‘other’ meat – four D, standing for dead, dying, disabled, diseased, which are illegal to include in our foods, but allowed in petfood.

It is your choice to decide if what makes up such foods is important in what you feed your pets, and whether you want a change. Paying attention to the ingredients on labels, and doing your own research on the pet food manufacturers and industry practices will help you figure out if the meals you give your pet is something you’re content with, or if you want to change your pet’s menu.
