A Guide to Finding the Perfect Pet For Your Family (Part 1)
|
A few rules in choosing include:
How much pet upkeep do you want? Some pets require a great deal more care and maintenance than others. Poodles will require special grooming. Some breeds have health issues such as Dalmatians with hip dysplasia, that may make care an issue in the future.
Are there requirements locally? For condos or apartments there might even be requirements regarding breeds or sizes you may own while living there. This can reduce your choices.
Do you want a loving pet? Some breeds are naturally very affectionate, while others are more aloof. Depending on your emotional needs or the time you have available to attend to them, you may want a pet that is more independent, or more needy or loyal to you.
Is the pet for someone else or yourself? If you are selecting a dog for for young people, your family, you will need to find a dog that has a good temperament with people, including children. Certain pet breeds do not play well in a family setting, while some pets are too aggressive for families.
