Home Made Pet’s Food And Why It’s Good (Part 1)
For owners that want the best for their cats or dogs, cooking the pet food themselves can be a nice option. Although not as convenient as store-bought food, it is a great way to better monitor what your cat or dog is eating, and improve their nutrition.
Every animal, including humans, have important nutritional needs. And while prepared pet food is handy, it might not be the best in all cases.
Many pet foods are not designed for the pet’s needs first, but cost first. This may mean often using less expensive and lower quality materials. For instance, many cat or dog foods use vegetable matter for filler (like the wheat gluten that was involved in the pet food crisis of early 2007). While this does lower costs, it’s not the natural source of protein pets are designed for - meat.
Although it’s possible for dogs can go without meat, cats cannot. Various specific nutrients are needed by cats, and are found in meat. However, unless you are prepared to do a serious research into requirements, and also watch over your pet’s eating habits, you will want to make sure there’s sufficient meat in their meals.
