How To Easily Groom Your Dog (Part 1)
|
Ideally, you should begin when your pet dog is still a pup. You might want to keep each session short to begin with but remember to keep to a schedule.
Remember to use a soft yet firm voice and manner. It may help at the beginning to just give your dog a massage till he calms down enough for you to start grooming.
It might also be appropriate to give your pet dog a small reward after every session, rewarding good behavior.
Bathing a dog requires some care. Many dogs remain a little shy of the process. Prepare all items in advance and have all your equipment handy as you may only get a single shot at it! Ensure the bath matches the dog in size. Use a mild temperature bath and a soap that will not irritate the skin. Take care not to get water in his ears or around the eyes. These are delicate places that are prone to infections. Use a firm manner when speaking and coax your dog rather than forcing if possible.
Cleaning your dog’s teeth will require care. It is always good to start while she is young. You can start by using your finger and a bit of cloth to rub along the teeth and gums. In time, you can attach a small brush to your finger and add in dog-flavored toothpaste to help.
