Some Flea Control Solutions (Part 1)
|
A simple solution to use is that of sprays, spot on applications, powders, or something similar. The treatment requires a straightforward application. The effectiveness can vary – spot on treatments can last a month, powders or sprays usually last just a few days, also they can vary in coverage. Sprays and powders can protect also against more than fleas, such as mites, ticks, and more.
Flea dips or shampoos are very good at killing fleas. One of the biggest problems is actually getting the dog or cat into the bath (especially for cat owners). The dip or shampoo must be applied properly to work. But when used right, the shampoo is highly effective, and leaves behind little or no residual chemicals on your cat or dog. But this benefit is also a disadvantage because there is no long-term protection, and you’ll need to combine it with other measures to totally protect your pet from future infestations.
An option to help your pet is with a pill. Oral forms of protection usually work on the egg, but not the adult. By stopping the eggs from growing, the cycle of flea life is interrupted. However, this means you’ll have to remove the adult fleas from your dog or cat.
