Your Dog And Cat Around Your Children – Safe? (Part 1)

Many of us remember growing up with a childhood dog or cat. Pets and kids get well together. With these tricks, your dog or cat can be safe around kids, and the kids can watch out for actions that’s bad for pet.

Most varieties of dogs and puppies have a fine attitude around kids, and can manage a bit of rough-housing without acting aggressively. However, this is rarely the case with cats. Especially with little children, picking up and playing with the cat often leads to bites and scratches, and further problems. When you are expecting visits from young ones, you may wish to separate them from each other whenever you can. And if you have yet to make a choice for a dog or cat for the family, you should consider avoiding a cat.

If the little ones are visiting, one way for pet and young ones to play well is in an outdoor activity, like taking the pet for a jog or run, catch, walking the dog when he needs to go out, or others. These activities can also teach the little children the importance in taking care of a cat or dog.

Including small children in the pet’s daily life, such as in cleaning, feeding, grooming, and such will aid the young tykes to have a closer relationship. The result? As the young children get to know the pet, they are less likely to hurt it. But, care should be taken with very small children to assist them, so that the pet gets proper attention.
