Is Your Place Safe From Your Cat Or Dog? (Part 2)

Thinking ahead will help keep your pet out of danger. Dogs and cats will often chew items that interest them, whether safe or not. For example, anti-freeze attracts pets with its sweet taste, but it is a deadly toxin, and absolutely must be stored far away from them, under lock and key. The same thing goes for products like cleaning solutions, or power cords on appliances. These should be locked up, hidden, and kept far away from your cat or dog.

Pets are curious and interested about the objects they find, much like people. But curiosity can be dangerous. For example, fragile figurines and objects, delicate objects (like vases on tables), items on higher shelves, and other items are an accident waiting to happen. If it’s easy to bump into it and knock down, it’s too possible for a moving cat or moving dog to knock it down – and the end result is something damaged.

While pet-proofing your house is extra effort, protecting your friend makes it time well spent. And with just a few minutes of thought, you can aid your dog or cat, and avoid any unnecessary emergencies.
