DIY Dog Or Cat Food – Why It’s So Good (Part 2)
|
Typically, a cat’s diet can be about fifty-fifty for meat and carbohydrates (such as brown rice or vegetables). By contrast, dogs can do quite well on about one quarter meat to three quarters carbohydrates.
One specific thing to avoid is feeding your cat or dog ‘human’ food. For example, garlic and onions are very toxic for cats, and cause anemia. Tomatoes include a chemical that causes extreme stomach problems in cats. Chocolate has been shown to be dangerous to dogs and cats both. And both raisins and grapes are to be avoided by dogs.
The Internet can provide recipes for specific recipes. Take care that the recipe is reasonable to you, and the ingredients are good for your pet. If the Internet site discusses how they use the recipe themselves, you may be able to find out how well it goes over, and if their pets enjoy it. This will avoid you wasting money and time on an experimental recipe, or a recipe your dog or cat won’t like.
