Dog And Cat Food Producers Paying For Their Contaminated Products (Part 1)

The current tainted petfood problem has left many people confused, upset, frightened, and angry. Now, they are fighting back via legal claims and class action lawsuits.

Cats and dogs in both Canada and the United States have suffered through serious problems, such as seizures, loss of appetite, kidney failure, death, and other symptoms resulting from eating poisoned pet food. The result has been a recall of millions of products.

Despite uncertainty as to the cause, the poisons in the pet foods have been identified, and one producer has recalled the products.

Legal groups are now preparing class action suits for this company as well as others. In one lawsuit, 2 Manitoba, Canada plaintiffs are suing Menu Foods over the death of their pets, a cat and several dogs, after eating the recalled products.

Although Menu Foods seems to be experiencing the majority of the legal actions, there are others involved. Royal Canin, based in Guelph, Ontario, is being sued for around fifty million dollars over contaminated food. In this case however, the contamination is excessive Vitamin D, which can be dangerous to dogs and cats in large enough does. So although the symptoms seem to be the same as the other foods, the actual reason is very different.
