How to Find Your Perfect Puppy (Part 1)
|
General guidelines to choosing include:
Who will the dog be for? If you are selecting a dog for your family, for young people, you will have to find a dog that is good around people, particularly kids. Some pet breeds don’t have the calmness to live and play around children, especially small ones, and some dogs are too aggressive for families.
Retrievers are likable pets, considered protective, loyal, and loving, important in a family pet. Because they are bigger dogs, they should get time outside, and are good for households that are outside frequently.
Likewise, collies are good with children. They are known as patient, intelligent dogs, and obedient, ideal around younger kids.
How much pet upkeep do you want? Some pets require more care and maintenance than others. Poodles will require special care for their appearance. Some breeds have health issues such as Dalmatians with hip dysplasia, which can make care an issue over time.
What will you and your dog do? If you’re interested in hunting, you’ll want to pick an animal that shares your interest. Dogs that are bred especially for hunting include pointers, retrievers, hounds, and trackers. So whether you stay at home, go outdoors a lot, this will influence the kind of dog you’ll bring into your home.
