Trouble With Your Dog? Try Simple Training Techniques!

Keep dog training techniques positive and upbeat. Remain motivated, even when training gets tough. Rewarding your dog with praise is an important part of reinforcing desired behaviors. Your dog will become fearful and less responsive to commands if you attempt to use fear and punishment as training motivation tools.

To soothe your dog’s separation anxiety, help it to develop relationships with other people and animals. In order to get over its unhealthy fixation, the dog must interact with others.

Get your dog ready early for his trips to the veterinarian. Gently place your hands over its body, acknowledging your dog when he responds positively. Practice handling both paw and teeth exams, by examining between the paw pads and lifting the dog’s jowls. See if your friends can help, too.

It can be very difficult to train two dogs together. However, if your dogs distract each other while training, try training each one separately first, then work with them together.

Do not tether two dogs close to each other. Doing so could cause injuries to the dogs if they become entangled in the chains and attempt to free themselves. In the case that a large dog and small dog become entangled, the large dog’s rope or chain could cut off air circulation to the small dog, and it could be severely injured or die.

Start by teaching your puppy his name. Use their name often, and then teach them how to come to you when called. His name should be the first word he learns. Be around your puppy a lot, so he knows to trust you. This will make him easier to train later.

Training your dog will establish rules for them and for you. It will help you to be able to have a leadership position over your dog and help you both to have a fulfilled relationship together. Keep in mind that you must continue to reinforce everything you have taught your dog. Watch out for any deviations from the proper behavior, and keep him on his toes. Once you finally get this core foundation of training built with the dog, the possibilities become limitless and you can expand into new and complex areas.
